Obedience
Heb 5:8-9 “Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;”
The eternal salvation that was gained through the sufferings of Jesus Christ is made available to all who is obedient to Him through faith.
Obedience is not always easy. The temptation to give in to the compromising pressure of those around you is very real. But remember, compromise and lack of conviction lead to wavering faith. Compromising what we know we are supposed to do leads to wavering faith. When we obey, we receive the abundance of God’s blessings, thereby increasing our faith.
God’s blessings will grow our faith. Our answered prayers will increase our faith. So how do we receive the abundance of God’s blessings, His grace and His favor? By being obedient.
So, when God shows us what He wants us to do in a certain situation, do it on the basis of His Word. Do it because God said do it. Just do what the Lord tells you to do. We may not understand how or why He has asked us to do a certain thing. But remember, He knows all there is to know about every situation. Our obedience is crucial, and it will be rewarded.
When we obey God, we are exercising our faith in God's ability to do what He has promised. Essentially we are telling Him, "Lord, I am obeying You because I know it brings glory and honor to You." Don’t misunderstand me, obedience does not mean we will escape suffering or trials. Many times, it may actually lead to difficulty and pressure from those around us. Sometime back in one of our Sunday school lessons, it talked about even when the Israelites entered into the Promised Land they encountered trials. But God!!!!
God takes notice of our obedience and He will bless and honor all that we do. The faith that saves is an obedient faith. Obey God. Obey the Word of God.
